The Tour de France is one of the biggest and most prestigious races in the cycling calendar. Taking place over three weeks in the summer, the race consists of 21 day-long stages that together cover a distance of over 3,000 kilometres.

Every year thousands of spectators ‘chase’ the tour, watching the racers set off, then lining the roads to show their support as they edge their way towards the finish line.

Concept

Rapid Retail worked with the Tour de France organisers to find ways to raise awareness and increase sales at both the start and closing stages of the race.

With the Tour dedicated to eco-friendly practices, any solution needed to uphold these principles, while also being secure and robust enough to occupy a busy city centre location.

Design

Rapid Retail designed, built and installed three fully branded, 6m x 2.7m portable retail units.

Each solar powered unit was designed to be highly secure and robust, making them ideal for busy city locations while fitting with the Tour’s green commitment. The units were used to sell branded merchandise and promote awareness for the race.

Result

The eye-catching units helped to promote the event and capture sales in high footfall areas, by offering visitors the opportunity to purchase tour merchandise and other memorabilia.
