Encouraging supporters to visit and spend time at the ground before a match is something that has been high on the agenda for Ipswich Town Football Club in recent years.
The Championship club, which plays its home matches at Portman Road, has taken steps to improve its FanZone, to enhance the fan experience – aiming to ensure there is something on offer for the whole family.
Rapid Retail, the UK’s leading supplier of pop up shops for football clubs and sporting events, has already supplied the club with a kiosk for selling programmes. This has now been joined by a new six metre merchandising unit, designed to complement the ongoing developments in the FanZone.
The fully branded unit gives visitors easy access to see, touch and try on merchandise. Importantly, it reduces queuing times and relieves overcrowding at the club’s megastore, while helping the club to achieve the maximum matchday sales.
Ipswich Town’s FanZone is open all season, with features including a drinks marquee where live matches are shown on giant screens, food outlets, and a bouncy castle and other activities for children. Ex-player signing sessions also take place after certain matches, along with football skills demonstrations and live music.
Nick Daffern, MD of Rapid Retail, said: “Our portable units are highly flexible, available to either rent or buy, and suitable for clubs of all levels and budgets. We’re delighted to have built on our existing relationship with Ipswich Town Football Club. The focus they are placing on fan experience and the improvements they are making to their FanZone will make such a lasting difference.”
Since 2007, Rapid Retail has been designing, building and installing its flexible units for clients based across the UK and Europe. From pop-up shops, to bars and catering units and portable retail space, the firm’s impressive client list boasts the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Nike, Roland Garros, Newbury Racecourse and the Tour De France.
