Rapid Retail is helping two ‘Top 14’ rugby clubs to improve the matchday experience for fans, while increasing club revenue, through the supply of its innovative retail solutions.
Section Paloise Béarn Pyrénées, commonly referred to as Pau, has taken delivery of a 6m walk-in pop up shop, while Stade Rochelais, known as La Rochelle, is benefiting from a 6m walk-in shop and matching merchandise display unit.
All three retai units have been designed, built and installed by Rapid Retail and feature each club’s individual colours and branding. The eye-catching units will provide supporters with additional opportunities to access merchandise – helping fans get into the spirit of the day, while alleviating queues and maximising matchday sales for the club.
It is the first time that Rapid Retail has worked with the two clubs, who are the latest in a long line of sports and retail clients across Europe, to call on the company’s extensive experience and expertise in portable retail.
Pau and La Rochelle both compete in Top 14, the highest level of the French league system. Pau’s homeground Stade du Hameau has a capacity of more than 18,000, which La Rochelle’s Stade Marcel-Deflandre ground, regularly attracts crowds of around 16,000.
The new pop up shops have been placed within each stadium in a high footfall area and will help the clubs reach fans who might otherwise never venture inside or near the club shop.
Commenting on the projects, Nick Daffern, MD of Rapid Retail, said: “We’re delighted to add Pau and Rochelle to our customer base. They are both well respected clubs who are at the top of their game and it’s our pleasure to help them enhance their retail offering.”
He added: “Modern sports fans have high expectations. They expect a seamless experience and anything clubs can do to enhance that experience – such as reducing queuing and helping create a positive atmosphere and feeling that they’re part of something special – is a vital part of that.
“What our cost-effective units provide – whether they are rented from us or bought outright – is a way for stadiums to make the optimum use of all available space, to aid the fan experience while bolstering club revenues.”
