Dijon FCO is the latest European football club to call on the expertise of Rapid Retail to help increase matchday revenue and improve the experience for supporters. The club’s home stadium, Stade Gaston Gérard, has taken delivery of two portable ‘wardrobe’ style units, which will be used to display merchandise and increase opportunities for spectators to see, touch and buy.

The Ligue 1 club follows in the footsteps of a long line of European clubs and sporting venues, who are taking advantage of the many benefits of mobile kiosks and pop up shops.

“From the Premier League, to Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga and Serie A, there are two key issues that we always hear from football clubs and sports grounds – they want to enhance the fan experience and to secure the optimum sales,” commented Nick Daffern, MD of Rapid Retail.

He continued: “When people are paying a lot of money for tickets they have high expectations and will come to a sporting venue expecting to receive a complete experience. From smooth entry to the ground, to good seating, decent catering provision and comprehensive retail opportunities.

“Many venues have traditionally focused on hospitality, with their retail offering taking something of a backseat. But offering multiple opportunities to browse merchandise and to buy, without having to hunt around for a club shop or facing massive queues, really is key – which is where our pop up shops come in. They can help make the whole experience easier for customers, while keeping the tills ringing for clubs.”

Rapid Retail boasts clients in nearly all major European football leagues, as well as other national stadiums and touring events.

From walk-in pop up shops to mobile kiosks, the portable units are available to either rent or buy and can be kitted out and used for a multitude of different purposes. The versatile units can be full branded and used to fulfil a range of functions, including providing additional retail space, being used as bars and catering units, for shirt printing, programme and ticketing booths, and as bespoke family or community areas. Or even the creation of dedicated Fan Zones.

Nick continued: “As our units are powered – including solar powered if required – can be fully branded and professionally fitted out as required, they are perfect for making the best use of any available space. They can help maintain the club’s image and profile, while streamlining the matchday experience for fans.”
